Deck My Halls

Now that I've got it camera ready, here are some more images of the house decorated for Christmas. Since it's the inaugural year, I wanted to really go all out. Also is a preview of the bathroom redo below; more to come on that!

Bathroom tree! Yes, I have one in every room, including the porch.

Mango's room (corner) with a tiny tree.

Poodle tree on my dresser.

A clean room at last!

The office...

And the tiny office tree!

The Disney tree in the dining room

And the clock of course dresses up too!

Reverse of dining room.

The couch is dressed up for winter with a vintage Swiss Army Blanket and wintery stag pillows.

And our beautiful tree from The Rocks Christmas Tree Farm in Bethlehem, NH! Merry Christmas to all and to all good decor!

Gingerbread Villa

Here's an idea: why don't we make a gingerbread house? Here's a BETTER idea: why don't we make the house LOOK LIKE MY HOUSE? This, in theory, was a great plan. In actuality it was quite the nest of thorns.

Here's the goal, this past spring.

Here's the gingerbread version!

Here are the dogs...

Here are the gumdrop versions!

Here's the real pink tree on the porch.

Here's the pink tree on the gingerbread porch!

Aerial view of the gingerbread house, pool and all.

The R flag hangs outside the REAL house...

And outside the gingerbread house!

Here's the backyard in gingerbread and frosting...

And here's the backyard in reality.

All in all it was a fun project. Not easy, but fun. Next year we're considering doing the castle in the Magic Kingdom... a girl can dream, can't she?

Christmas Time is Here Again

I've been dying to post Christmas decor pics but things are just getting back to normal here at Unicorn Villa after a whirlwind experience of three movies in a row! Now that everything is wrapped I am looking forward to some time off which will of course mean more stuff for the blog! Here are some previews of the Christmas decorations here- more to come!

Through the Looking Glass: Halloween 2008

This year's Spooktacular Halloween Party was the Fourth Annual- I can't believe it. While I was finishing up the movie elsewhere in Georgia, Shauna was good enough to create a wonderful Alice costume for me to complement her as the Queen of Hearts. Before our annual trip to Disneyworld for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, we threw our own bash.

The old toilet paper mummy contest- Christine took home first prize.

My brother Kee was visiting and made a great White Rabbit. I'm drinking wine, but from a teacup!

The Williams family- thanks to Patrick for having an awesome costume and taking all these great pictures!

MariClaire tries a poisonous caramel apple. She survived that, just like she does everything!

These vases are simply dollar store finds with black spray paint.

The glitter graveyard- plastic bones coated with Martha Stewart glass glitter from Michael's. Everything looks better with glitter!

The dollar store comes through again- black pillar candles are made special with Halloween ribbon tied around them.

I made a skin for my beautiful (but bright blue!) Swedish clock to fit it into the decor. Poster board and a white out pen were all I needed!

Pyrex beakers make excellent dip containers! This is pumpkin butter and ginger snaps, very tasty.

The puking pumpkin is always a hit. Salsa never looked so good!

Of course we had Eat Me cookies for Alice in Wonderland!
